Old Electrics

I’m using an ESU ECoS Command Station and DCC Concepts Cobalt iP Digital point motors. Although this was quite expensive it was extremely easy to set up and works really well. I ran a T-shaped bus wire around the layout and attached dropper wires to it via Scotchlock type connectors and small terminal block screw connectors.

I bought a soldering iron and tried to teach myself how to solder but failed completely! I just did not get on with it and the iron was eventually thrown in the bin in disgust and frustration! The only thing this has caused issues with is preparing electrofrog points. You are supposed to join two lots of rails by soldering on wires. I got around this by joining the rails using copper foil tape. It certainly works OK, but how it looks when weathered and ballasted and how it lasts is yet to be seen.
